Home cinema systems simply don’t come more impressive than this. OK, so it’s almost as expensive as the house you’re sitting in, but when it comes to picture quality, it just can’t be beaten.
Dubbed the Meridian 810 Reference Video System, it’s actually two pieces of equipment: the 810 Reference Video Projector, and the 810 Reference Video Scaler.
The projector itself is an all-new D-ILA-based affair, cranking out images at 10 megapixel resolutions, and it’s for that reason the 810 Reference Video Scaler is crucial.
See, throwing images at a wall at a resolution of 4096 x 2400 pixels is no mean feat, so the Video Scaler uses a special processor to upscale HD pictures to ten times their normal size.
The projector itself is also incredibly powerful, packing a PKI Xenon lamp to blast 4000 lumens from the business end. That’s enough to light even the largest screens to Hollywood reference levels of 16 foot-lamberts. It also boasts a native contrast ratio of 10,000:1, making sure colours are rich and blacks deep.
Bundled in a package together, the projector and scaler are not available separately, but the pair will sell with different lens assemblies for long or short-throw set-ups. All packages will be the same price: £100,000.
