The Big N has revealed details of its work in developing ‘medical diagnosis systems’ for mobile phones. That’s right - Nokia’s making mobiles that can actually save lives.
According to Leo Kaerkkaeinen, one of the chief future-gazers at its Nokia Research Centre, the company is already carrying out trials, using phones to diagnose illnesses in seconds, and helping bring aid to remote or undeveloped areas of the world.
High on Nokia’s list of research topics is the use of medically-minded mobiles by untrained first-responders. There’s the chance that such advanced phones could save lives almost unaided.
