They’ve demoed it, explained why it was delayed, and now the crafty hackers of the iPhone Dev Team have finally released all the tools you need to unlock a 3G iPhone.
After posting links to the tool on their website, the Dev Team stated: “We’ll be releasing a more official announcement soon, but we wanted to get the tool out there. We sincerely hope you enjoy using it as much as we enjoyed making it.”
The software successfully jailbreaks old iPhones, as well as iPhone 3G handsets and iPod touches. It will only work if you’ve upgraded to Apple’s latest 2.0 firmware, however.
Jailbreaking is a process that allows the iPhone to be used on any mobile network, as well as permitting non-approved applications to be installed.
