Those loose-lipped analysts at Piper Jaffray & Co are at it again, this time predicting that iPhone 3Gs are likely to be in short supply for the next month or so.
The massive early demand for Apple’s second-gen Jesus phone - over a million were shifted in the first weekend - has seen supplies dwindle to a trickle, and according to analyst Gene Munster this problem will take some time to remedy. Apple has to reorder from its suppliers and restock the inventory, y’see.
A trip over to the O2 website seems to bear that out, with only a few stores listed as having stock (and some of those have no 16GB models left). Still, that’s an improvement on earlier this week, when the site claimed there were no models in stock at all.
O2 says it expects supplies to remain limited for some weeks, but is confident “that all customers who want [an] iPhone 3G will get one by the end of this summer.”
