Sony Vaio Z seriesDinky laptops are ten-a-penny, but not when they’re made by Sony. The Vaio-maker’s just let slip two new ultra-portable laptops.

They’re ultra-skinny, but not quite on par with the MacBook Air. Dubbed the Z series, we’re talking a maximum depth of 1.3 inches, 13.1 inch screens and a whopping 1600 x 900 resolution.

Inside there’s Intel’s Centrino 2 processors at a choice of 2.26Ghz and 2.53GHz. That’s on top of 4GB of memory and either a 128GB solid-state drive, or a 320GB hard disk.

Best of all, they’ll run for up to six hours on a single charge, and come packing Windows Vista.

On top of all this, there’re a host of added extras, like fingerprint scanners and built-in memory card readers. See? This is why ultra-portables from Sony really stand out.
