Lenovo has been busy updating its consumer focussed IdeaPad laptops with four new models on offer: the U330, Y430, Y530 and Y730.
The 13.3in U330 takes over from the U110 and is 0.9in at its slimmest point, despite packing in a Centrino 2 processor, HDMI and optical drive. It’s loaded with an unusual security feature that can use the webcam to unlock files based on faces that it recognises.
The Y430, Y530 and Y730 are 14.1in, 15.4in and 17.1in variations on the same theme. The smallest Y430 settles for integrated graphics while Y530 gets an Nvidia NB9M GS 256MB chip. At the top end, the Y730 is powered by ATI’s M86 ME 512MB graphics processor and also supports two 320GB hard drives, which are hot swappable.
The new laptops should be out by later in the year, but there’s no confirmed pricing just yet.
