We uncovered the robot parking system last week, but if you can’t find one of these multi-storey systems and need to squeeze your motor into a space with only the space of a cats whiskers to spare then a solution may be near.
Nissan’s futuristic Pivo 2 is a “robot assisted” car letting you drive sideways to get your car into the unfreindliest of spots and is set to hit the Portugese roads in 2011.
With governemt backing in the shape of a national network of electric car charging centers so that Nissan can start selling the Pivo 2 there in a few years it seems the Portugese might well have a head start on the rest of us.
The Pivo 2 has four engines, pivoting wheels, and a rotating cabin so you can face front while driving in multiple directions, bumper to bumper “nudge” parking looks like a thing of the past.
Check it out in action.
