Like all faithful gadget fans, we ordered our iPhone 3G last Monday. After a bit of a wait, and a confusing chat with O2 customer services, we got a confirmation e-mail stating the hallowed handset would arrive on Friday. Did it? Err. No.
Disappointed, we were told by O2’s couriers, DHL, that they had attempted delivery, but we “weren’t in”. Strange, since we’d camped out by the letter box all day, and were even missing their “attempted delivery” card.
No matter, we thought. Nothing we can do about it now – we’ll just have to wait until Monday. But after a phone call today, we were told not to expect it until Wednesday.
The reason: DHL has sub-contracted iPhone deliveries to self-employed couriers, and ours left the company on Friday, taking our precious handset with her.
It’s currently in her house. We’ve even been given her mobile number by DHL and told to “see if you can pick it up from there.”
Frankly, we’re flabbergasted. Does Apple know O2 have left their reputation in the hands of people like this?
