Activision, the firm behind Call of Duty and Guitar Hero, has announced a new brand dubbed Wee 1ST, dedicated to feeding the Nintendo Wii with exclusive titles.
“The Wii is introducing new audiences to gaming,” said Dave Oxford of Activision Publishing.
“Clearly, the Wii’s accessible controls are changing how the audience plays games and how we look at game design.”
Ninty has been accused of not making the most of the Wii’s potential, so increased third party support is good news for the console.
“This initiative is designed to showcase games that take full advantage of the Wii’s capabilities”, Oxford said.
It’s great news for Wii fans worried about a lack of games for the motion sensor-loving console.
The first Wee1ST branded titles to be outed will include Little League World Series 2008, Rapala Fishing Frenzy and Dancing with the Stars: Get Your Dance On.
EA Sports also recently unveiled All-Play, its own Wii division. The news is bound to go some way to dispel the claims from rival manufacturers that the Wii is simply a passing fad.
What do you think? Will this cement the Wii as the true leader in the console war? Or mean more “novelty” games?
