Thanks to those iPhone 3G shortages, we don’t have a handset to give away ourselves, but that doesn’t mean you can’t win one. Here’s our complete run-down of the iPhone 3G competitions from across the web, as well as tips for how to win each of them!
Get clicking, and strike 3G gold!
Post a comment, win an iPhone 3G!
Every post on iPhone Alley’s forum received by July 16th is considered an entry for its 16GB iPhone 3G comp. Multiple entries are fine, so get chatting and you could net yourself an Apple handset gratis!
Chances of winning: very good, if you post a thousand times!
Befriend Jake for an iPhone
The Jake Marsh has an iPhone 3G for anyone that’s willing to email him, subscribe to his RSS, add him to Pounce, sign up for TimeSlack and follow him on Twitter. Sounds like hard work to us.
Chances of winning: fair - if you can be bothered to jump through Jake’s hoops.
Accessory to winning!
Mr Gadget, or rather, his sponsor iWorld Australia, has a 16 GB iPhone 3G for the lucky puck that fills in their details, chooses their favourite iPhone accessory and gets picked from all the entrees.
Chances of winning: This is so simple, there’ll be tons of entrants. Odds of you winning are incredibly slim.
Link link, win win!
Upstartblogger has one iPhone 3G up for grabs and to win it, you have to link to the site and leave a comment on its excellent competition. Surely, this article counts as an entry for the Electricpig team, and if you’ve got a blog or website of your own, you can do the same!
Chances of success: good, if you leave a little link-love.
Win with Windows mobile fans!
This unusual competition is being held by the unlikely iPhone fans at Mobility Site. We had them pegged as Windows Mobile fans, but they’ve got a contract-free iPhone 3G for one of the site’s comenters, picked at random.
Chances of winning: unlikely, it’s a very busy site.
Stuff your pockets with Stuff.tv!
More fun, but less likely to bag you any kind of prize, is the iPhone 3G caption competition over at Stuff.tv. The hardened techno-hacks have clearly grown tired of thinking up their own puns, and want suggestions for a picture of a constipated-looking Steve Jobs with a think bubble over his head.
Chances of winning: it depends how creative you are. If you’re going to win, you’d better be good!
Waffle to win!
The iPhone Blog will enter you into its prize draw if you join its new forum and leave 20 posts between now and launch day. No, daily updates on what you had for breakfast are no good, it must be iPhone-related.
Chances of winning: pretty good, assuming you’ve got the dedication, and can keep the iPhone small-talk going!
Grab more than an iPhone
Mactropolis has not one, but two iPhone 3G handsets to give away, and all you need do is leave a message in its forum thread. There are iTunes vouchers as runner-up prizes too.
Chances of winning: there’s a reasonable chance of bagging something here, since there’re multiple prizes on offer
Write your way to a free phone!
ModMyFone has a whole bunch of prizes, but to get your hands on them you’ll need a jailbroken phone and the willingness to submit a two-paragraph review of one of the sites native apps.
Chance of winning: definitely worth a shot, but you’ll need to hack an existing phone, and do a bit of work.
Record a video to win!
EverythingiCafé will consider giving you an iPhone 3G if you make a video using your existing iPhone. Sure, the iPhone can’t record movies as standard, but if you hack it open and install their software, you’ll be able to shoot half-decent film. It’s a shame you’ll need a jailbroken handset, and their iPhone Video Recorder software, but those hurdles should also narrow the competition.
Chances of winning: pretty good if you’re a budding Stephen Spielberg.
