Home automation is no longer the preserve of Bill Gates and the like thanks to the affordable skills of HM4, a 1TB server that can send four different data streams, including live TV, around your house at the same time.
It’s certainly the most affordable home entertainment server we’ve seen, but the HM4 still has the ability to stream up to four Freeview TV channels at a time and store huge amounts of music, images and video for sending in HD quality to four separate zones simultaneously. It’s a case of ripping your CDs and DVDs to the drive and laying a few miles of cable around your house. You’ll probably want to get a professional CEDIA installer to do this and fit the local media players and IR control panels in each room, but the new price point is set to make mutltiroom entertainment a possibility for a much wider group.
