We’ve waited a long time for PlayStation Home, but the much-delayed Second Life-like app is now “on schedule” for autumn, after being delayed in April.
“The Home open beta is still on schedule for release later this fall,” Sony’s PlayStation Network director, Eric Lempel told Next-Gen.biz
The new platform may have been originally penned for release months ago, but Sony promises it’ll be well worth the wait.
“The reason we’ve been delaying [Home] is so that we can deliver a high quality service that the users will enjoy,” Lempel said.
“Even though it will be in beta, it will be a fair representation of what the service can be and its potential, so it won’t be a 0.5 release, it will be a fully robust service.”
After the botched 2.4 update, we’re quite happy to wait for Home. Another firmware fiasco and there’ll be a few red faces in Sony HQ.
