Our inside source told us last week that Apple would punish the UK for its record as the unlocking capital of the world with a limited iPhone 3G supply and a complete dearth of the white model, and you know what? Now it’s official.
The intrepid tech-heads at Pocket Lint got official word from both The Carphone Warehouse and O2 that the UK will be a white iPhone-free-zone when the handset launches on Friday.
The white model, which is only available in 16GB, will be “available later” according to O2, while The Carphone Warehouse simply said “the white 16GB model won’t be available at launch.”
We’ve also heard that availability of the iPhone 3G on pay as you go contracts won’t be confirmed until later in the year.
Until then, our source says the 8GB model will be priced at £349. That’s one expensive Christmas present!
