Just as O2’s iPhone 3G upgrade system starts to flounder, The Carphone Warehouse has stepped in, offering pre-orders for new customers and upgrades for existing iPhone owners, with a website that actually works!
The mobile store also says it’ll start selling Apple’s new 3G handset in-store from 8:02 on Friday 11th July.
As ever, there are warnings that the handset will be in short supply, with The Carphone Warehouse saying interest in the new iPhone has been ten times that of the previous version.
Charles Dunstone, CEO of The Carphone Group, said: “We’re delighted that levels of interest have been so high and that we are able to offer our customers the first opportunity to ensure delivery of the iPhone 3G on the day of the launch.
“The iPhone 3G is a massive step forward for the mobile phone market and will no doubt continue to set the standard of mobile technology.”
