The iPhone 3G will land in the UK next week, but O2’s so concerned about the demand for the new handsets it’s limiting supply to one per customer.
In a text to all iPhone owners today, the company promised more information on how to pre-order the 3G handset in the coming days, but warned: “we do, however, expect demand for the iPhone 3G to be very high, so orders will be processed on a first come, first served basis so that we can be fair to all our customers. Orders will be limited to one iPhone 3G per customer.”
O2 has already confirmed it will let existing iPhone owners upgrade to the new handset, as long as they sign up to a further 18 month contract.
Old iPhones passed to family and friends will also entitle the new owner to switch to one of O2’s iPhone-specific tariffs, while Pay As You Go pricing has yet to be officially revealed, despite a series of leaks.
