Nokia’s ploughing ahead with preparations for its Comes With Music offer, signing up Warner Music Group to serve free songs to owners of new Nokias later in the year.
Warner lines up alongside Sony BMG in offering free music downloads through the Nokia Music Store, as long as fans have bought a Nokia handset.
The Comes With Music offering will go live later this year, letting users download as many tracks as they like in a year, and keep them for good afterwards.
It sounds too good to be true, but it’s not – Nokia has put its mobile muscle behind the initiative to make it work, and now has the three largest music labels on board.
iTunes could have a serious competitor on its hands here. Stay tuned for more as the launch nears in the second half of the year.
