Dedicated PS3 owners have waited months for new in-game features from Sony, but now the console giant’s poised to deliver, with a software update for the all-powerful game machine due in just days.
Sony says the PS3 will be upgraded to firmware 2.40 on July 2nd, bringing trophy achievements, and in-game access to the console’s cross media bar menus (XMBs).
There’ll also be functions to check whether your mates are online (just as Xbox 360 owners have had for years). You’ll also be able to send messages to your mates without exiting games.
Trophy support will roll out in forthcoming PS3 titles over the next few months. Super Stardust will be the first to offer trophies, but many more will follow suit later in the year.
