Warehouse working robots

kiva_robots.jpgThis army of orange robots have taken the place of warehouse workers at a factory in Kentucky and are fulfilling online orders a far cry from the old fashioned “human walking miles” way.

These Kiva systems, that look much like brightly painted Roomba robots, have orders fed into them wirelessly and then they wander about the massive warehouses retreiving all manner of goods for their human packager.

Whilst one unit fulfills its WiFi fed orders to the packing station another is on its way to grab the next load, cutting down on costs and increasing efficiency.

We’d like to see a similar type of automaton in Argos soon.
