The Playstation 3 has taken another giant leap in its ambitions to become the media-loving centre of your universe. Sony has confirmed it will soon launch its much trumpeted movie download service.
The service will go live in the US this summer before hitting Japan and Europe not too much later, exactly when is yet to be announced.
Microsoft already has a similar service offering movies and other video content from big names such as MTV and Warner Bros, and Sony will be expecting to more than challenge the big M with its new service.
Lucky owners of online enabled Sony Bravia LCD TV’s in the US will receive a free copy of Will Smith movie, Hancock, before it’s available elsewhere, just to show how nice they are.
Not fair, there better be a similar deal when it hits here. Please.
Out soon | £Free (video content £TBC) | Sony | (via Gamesindustry.biz)
