The Wii is about to run into trouble. Nintendo keeps plying us with games, from Virtual Console to WiiWare and the more we download, the less space we have left, but now Ninty says its got a more permanent solution in mind.
According to the game fanatics at Joystiq, Nintendo Europe’s Laurent Fischer has let slip plans for a re-think on the console’s storage systems.
The Big N is believed to be “working on a solution” to the problem, but Fischer pours scorn on claims it’ll fix the foul-up with external storage devices.
“Definitely there’s no plan to issue hardware,” we head. Bummer. So much for those USB add-ons we’d been hoping for.
The next most likely solution is a firmware update, letting the console save and play games directly from an SD card. Not ideal, but simple and effective. Stay tuned for more as we hear it.
