It’s amazing what you can find if you look hard enough. Take the boys over at Bit-tech, for example. They dug about in the innards of an Eee PC 901 and found some curiously named solder points.
After peeling its skin back and finding all the usual stuff you’d expect – Atom processor, Bluetooth card, audio chip, Wi-Fi gubbins – they stumbled across some interesting currently unused connectors on the motherboard labelled ’3GCard’. HSDPA data anyone?
They also found that the 4GB SSD hard drive isn’t soldered to the motherboard, so it could potentially get a capacity bump in the future. There’s also an additional unused hard drive connector labelled ‘IDE3′ which could also be used for future expansion.
