Apple’s given developers a sneak peek at the next generation of OS X. It’s dubbed Snow Leopard, and packs all the guts to power the next-generation of monster Macs.
According to the few details Apple has made public, Snow Leopard is specially optimised for multi-core processors found in modern Macs, and is also able to harness the processors of graphics cards for extra grunt.
It also supports the next generation of media playback, QuickTime X, and has the capacity to handle a whopping 16 terabytes of RAM.
At the heart of it all is Apple’s new “Grand Central” technology, which makes it easy for developers to code for multi-core Macs packing several processors.
Not excited? You should be. Snow Leopard’s due next year, and has the potential to kick out a new range of ultra-powerful Apple computers. Watch this space.
