We thought we’d finally got a glimpse of the 3G iPhone, but eagle-eyed Mac fans now claim it’s another filthy fake. Looks like we’re back on for a surprise unveiling tonight after all.
The latest shots showed a purported next-gen iPhone, sporting a thinner shell and front-facing video camera.
What’s more, it seemed iChat for Windows was on the cards, with iPhone owners chatting with Mac, PC and other Apple handsets.
However, Engadget points out there’s a peculiarly absent ‘sleep’ button from the image of the new red iPhone, and that Windows XP is spelt ‘Xp’, which is not in keeping with Apple conventions.
Sure, they’re tiny details in an otherwise convincing set of images, but when you consider the attention to detail Apple typically applies, they’re unforgivable mistakes.
What do you think? Are they fake images, or just early drafts?
We’ll know the truth at 6pm tonight, when Steve Jobs takes the stage at WWDC to unveil Apple’s next-gen product line.
