Under the sea with Sanyo’s Xacti CA8 waterproof camcorder

This is Xacti what we need for our next scuba sojourn. It’s Sanyo’s Xacti CA8 waterproof camcorder, which is finally getting a UK launch.

Waterproof for an hour up to a depth of 1.5m it’s the ideal companion for a bit of snorkel action.

Features include video recording (of course) along with being able to take still shots with the 8-megapixel snapper on the 2.5-inch screen.

It also touts a 5x zoom and a curious function called ‘Face Chaser’ which keeps focus on your buddies’ you know, faces. Perfect for keeping them in sharp focus as they’re chased away by a great white.

It even has direct upload to YouTube and other vid-sharing sites. SD card storage also means there are no moving parts.
