Legends have it tough. A lifetime of taking risks, being put under public scrutiny, and then the best they can hope for is a dodgy memorial fountain or a plaque on a park bench. Not F1 driver Jim Clark. He gets his very own Lotus.
The Brit-based car maker just unveiled their special edition supercharged Elise, branded the Clark Type 25 Elise SC. It’s inspired by the Type 25 F1 car Clark used to win the 1963 world championship, sporting a British racing green paint job, with a yellow strip and special Lotus Sport Wheels.
There’s a removable hard top, and Lotus’s standard 1.8 litre supercharged engine, kicking the car from 0.60 in a licence-worrying 4.3 seconds.
Since it’s a very special edition, Lotus will only make 25 cars under the Clark name. It’ll be unveiled to the public at this weekend’s Scottish Classic Speed Fair at Knockhill. The price for a tribute to a legend? A fiver less than £36k.
