That £100 iPhone rumour just won’t die. Now it’s being repeated, with a Christmas release date attached. Does Santa Steve have something special in store for Monday?
According to The Register, he does. Its team of tech sleuths are reporting that Apple will have a much-subsidised 3G iPhone on British shelves in time for Jesus’ birthday.
Their source is one of their own readers, who approached O2 with an enquiry about switching from Orange. Their response was that the 3G iPhone “will be out around Christmas time.”
So much for O2’s preparation in time for Monday.
As ever, we’re treating all these claims to a generous pinch of salt. Who really knows Apple’s game plan? Steve Jobs, that’s who. And he’s keeping schtum until Monday.
