The iPhone App Store is nearly readyAmongst the many, many Apple announcements due on Monday, there’s mounting expectation on Steve Jobs to unveil the public launch of the iPhone App store, finally ushering full-blown applications onto the touchscreen handset.

It’ll mean an end to the months of iPhone owners using web-only applications, or hacking their iPhones to receive unofficial applications.

But before Jobs can open the application floodgates, he’ll have to unleash the iPhone’s next-generation software. That’s the code that’ll transform the iPhone into a proper portable computer, as well as paving the way for a 3G iPhone.

So what’s in store on Monday? It’s looking more likely than ever that we’ll get a new iPhone, an App store, and maybe, just maybe, a suite of new web services called Apple Me too.
