Is .Mac about to become Apple Me?We’ve already caught sight of Apple’s plan to re-launch its .Mac online services, changing its name and adding more comprehensive features. Now it looks like it’ll simply be called Apple Me.

The Mac-maker appears to have registered the Me.com domain, with MacRumors reporting it’s listed under the same person as maintains Apple’s other sites, Kenneth Eddings.

It makes sense, since Apple applied for a trademark on the name Mobile Me in 2006, before the iPhone was even revealed. The new Me.com domain could easily be adjusted to use mobile.me.com, and could point to a range of new iPhone-friendly services.

It’s all speculation at the moment, but since the Me.com domain is likely to have been extremely expensive, it’s unlikely Apple purchased it without a concrete plan in place. A plan we hope will be revealed at WWDC.
