It’s not solar-powered and it’s not a cube, but it is the fastest oven on the planet. By combining four heat sources – grill, microwave, electricity and a halogen lamp – SolarCUBE can cook up a feast four times faster than a regular oven. Hungry right now? You can roast a whole joint of pork in just 45 minutes flat.
It looks just like a regular oven and comes in either stainless steel as pictured, or black as is increasingly fashionable and in freestanding format or built in. But there’s nothing conventional about its cooking methods. Some clever programming means SolarCUBE can combine its four heat sources to get the best and the fastest results, while taking care to cook all the way through and crisping the outside where appropriate.
Thanks to the auto cooking presets, all you have to do is press ‘pizza’ for pizza, or ‘jacket potato’ if you want a jacket potato – you’ll soon pick it up – and you can even cook several dishes at the same time with the dividing shelves creating three different zones that can cook at quite different temperatures. And while it might not be solar-powered, it is particularly energy efficient, consuming 50% less power cooking a frozen pizza for example.
Thanks for speeding up our cooking times LG, now we’ll just try and eat faster.
