The iPlayer’s been available through the red button on Virgin’s cable service for a few weeks, but now it’s being promoted, giving it a permanent home on the EPG.
The move reflects the iPlayer’s popularity, as well as showing off Virgin’s on-demand abilities.
From next week, any of Virgin’s 3.5 million customers will be able to see iPlayer programmes in the cable giant’s Catch-up TV section, which is proudly displayed in the EPG.
At present, around 48% of Virgin’s TV customers are using iPlayer through the red button, which lets shows be started immediately, and viewed full-screen. By moving it to the EPG, it’s hoped many more will discover its delights, and tap into the Beeb’s on-demand offering.
