Sony DVP-NS708HGot yourself a HD TV, but haven’t made the jump to Blu-Ray yet? Then check out Sony’s new Bravia-branded DVD upscaler.

It’s a neat little box, spitting out full HD pictures from regular DVD discs through HDMI. It’ll also sling photos to the big screen from a CD or DVD, as long as they’re in JPEG format.

Best of all though, it’s the latest piece of HD kit from Sony to pack Bravia Sync, meaning it can be controlled from the same remote as your TV for less living room clutter.

Unfortunately, there’re a few things missing that we’d like to have seen. For a start, the new DVP-NS708H lacks a USB connector, so if you’ve photos or videos on a memory stick, you’ll need another way to get them on the telly.

It’s also lacking a price and release date, so it’s tricky to tell whether this is a bargain or poorly equipped extravagance. Come on Sony! We’d like the whole story please!
