We know the 3G iPhone is imminent, and that the UK already has a decent level of coverage for speedy data on the move, but it’s not a patch on Australia’s latest claims, that its 3G iPhone will run at a whopping 42Mbps.
According to Australian news website ChannelNews, a “senior executive” at Telstra has let slip that the Apple handset will run at mind-boggling speeds by Christmas, thanks to its brand new HSPA+ network.
The network is already committed to rolling out HSPA+ technology by next year, so to claim it’s ahead of schedule and will offer 42Mbps by Christmas isn’t too much of a stretch.
What’s more interesting is that the new iPhone will have support for such networks, even though they exist in just a handful of locations. Maybe AT&T, O2 and Orange have their own high-speed networks on the way. June 9th just can’t come quickly enough.
