The UK is sadly Segwayless, since our road regulations stop them being used on streets or pavements. That could be about to change, though, thanks to new legislation going before the House of Lords.
The BBC reports that Conservative transport spokesman Robert Goodwill wants the ban overturned.
If Goodwill gets his way, Segways would be allowed to use cycle lanes, and roam free around Britain’s green and pleasant lands.
Hilariously, Liberal Democrat peer Lord Redesdale is also on-board, claiming “It took me a few minutes to learn how to use it and I was very impressed with it.
“The vehicle’s safety mechanism was particularly good and was demonstrated by the fact that I drove straight at the noble Earl, Lord Attlee (with his consent) and failed to do him any damage at all - unfortunately!”
Fingers crossed we’ll all be hurtling towards Earls on two-wheeled people movers soon.
