Most concept phones never amount to anything, but we’ve heard word that tucked away deep inside Nokia’s research labs there’s a real live Aeon - a fuel cell powered touchscreen that can split itself in two.
It’s all too easy to create some mockups of a super amazing mobile, but turning those pretty, but non-functioning, models into something that actually works is much, much harder. Which is probably why most concepts never see the light of day.
However, according to Chinese site NetEase, Nokia researchers have managed to create a working model to play with. It’s still some way off becoming something you’ll be able to pick up in the shops, but we could see elements of it cropping up in future models soon. We’re hoping the phone that splits into pieces is first.
