Two years ago Microsoft unveiled Xbox Live Anywhere, letting gamers tap into Xbox Live from mobile phones and Vista PC’s. Since then we’ve heard little about it. Until now.
Thankfully the idea is not entirely dead in the water. While further details are still scarce, Microsoft’s Jeff Bell has reassured gamers that it’s still on the way. “Live Anywhere is not abandoned,” he said. “It’s just not easy to do.”
When the service finally arrives, we’re told it will let gamers check high scores, achievements and keep tabs on their friend lists, as well as offering up online play with other gamers, through mobile phone or Vista PC.
Other features lined up include an alert system to flag up new downloads, as well as text and video chat functions.
We can’t wait. But until Microsoft announces a release date, we’ll stick with N-Gage, since it offers almost all those functions already!
