We’ve heard WalMart has plans to offer Blu-Ray players at knock-down prices in the States, and now it’s confirmed we’ll be getting the same HD bargains from ASDA!
The supermarket giant’s head of PR says it’ll take a while for the budget disc-spinners to hit Britain, but we’ll get them shortly after they go on sale in the US.
There’ll be four models to choose from, Panasonic’s DMPBD30, Sharp’s BD-HP20H, Sony’s BDPS300B and Samsung’s BDP1400.
Only Panasonic’s and Samsung’s are really worth considering though, since they pack Blu-Ray Profile 1.1 for picture-in-picture features and BD-Java games.
Prices are still up in the air, although you can expect to slap down around £250 when they hit the shelves.
Not bad, and with any luck they’ll fall in price in the time it takes them to cross the Atlantic too.
