We’ve been concerned for a few months that Rovio might not make it to the UK, after much excitement at CES and Toy Fair earlier this year (the prototype mobbed by baying crowds) it all went very quiet…very quiet indeed.
Happy days WiFi robot fans, we’ve just heard a retail partner has signed an exclusive deal to stack him on their virtual shelves, and we only have to wait until the summer.
For the unaware, Rovio is far from just easy on the eye, he is a super-sentry. Using the remotely controlled webcam upon his back you can tap in wherever you have web access to see (and hear) exactly whats going on in your abode.
From a simple snoop around your pad just because you can to reading the kids a bedtime story due to your devotion to that slave called work, perhaps a childish “sneak up behind someone and scare the bejeesus out of them” again, just because you can.
Rovio is loaded with NorthStar navigation software and can be programmed with various waypoints, so select one of your most visited areas give him a nudge and he’ll be there in moments, navigating around obstacles to its destination under its own control.
And worry ye not about him running out of juice, set Rovio to “self-dock” and when he’s starting to approach his final energy bars will make tracks back to his charging station.
