iPod designer Ive also creates robots

Eve, from Pixar’s upcoming film Wall-eJonathan Ive, Apple’s design mastermind, doesn’t just design iPods, iPhones and iMacs you know. He also turns his hand to robots, helping Pixar create Eve, the futuristic female lead in their new film, Wall-E.

According to CNNMoney, Ive spent a day working with Pixar’s designers, honing the shape and ‘technology’ of the fictional robot to make it as slick as possible.

According to Wall-E director Andrew Stanton, Ive helped to make Eve “seamless and for the technology to be sort of hidden and subcutaneous.”

His work on the Pixar project dates back to 2005, but Ive has remained tight-lipped about it so far.

According to CNNMoney the Apple designer was so secretive about Apple’s design process and direction that at times he would only nod or shake his head to indicate whether Pixar’s staff were on the right lines.

“Apple is so proprietary and so secretive that he couldn’t even really allude to where the future of technology was going,” recalled Stanton.

Wall-E hits cinemas across the UK on Friday July 18.
