Sony’s declared victory over Microsoft in Europe. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s Davie Reese used the company’s PlayStation Day event yesterday to crow that the PS3 has now outsold the Xbox in Europe.
According to Sony’s figures, more than five million PS3s are now in homes across Europe. “We have sold more PlayStation 3s throughout Europe than Xbox 360, even though they launched 16 months before us,” Reeves said.
It’s an important milestone for Sony, which seems to have left the PS3’s difficult launch, Blu-Ray battle and poor games line up behind it.
And news that the PS3 has been outstripping the 360 in sales since October last year seems to point to a healthy future for Sony.
