If you haven’t already, take a look at our first look at Freesat. We guarantee it’s the future of Freeview, with more than double the channels at launch and HD services too, but what if you don’t want another set top box in the lounge? Luckily, there are TVs coming with Freesat built in.
Panasonic have been showing off the first models, available in 42, 46 and 50 inches, they’re part of the PZ81 range.
As well as packing the all-important Freesat tuner, the new goggleboxes use Panasonic’s latest Frame Creation System, to run at 100hz, providing crystal clear and flicker free pictures. That means they’re perfect for sports, and they also pack 24p technology, so Blu-Ray movies encoded at 24 frames per second look exactly as their creators intended.
Worried about missing out on Freeview by switching to Freesat? Don’t be. The channel line ups are pretty similar, but Panny’s TVs can receive Freeview signals through an aerial, so there’s never been a better equipped screen.
On top of all this, they’re fitted with ethernet connectors too, so when Freesat starts serving up on-demand shows over the internet (which we’re promised isn’t too far away), these new TVs will be ready for them.
Lastly, all three screens have three HDMI inputs for games consoles and Blu-Ray players, as well as SD card slots, so they can show pictures from your digital camera without messing about with cables.
Now can you see why we’re excited about Freesat? When it’s fuelling products like this, you’d be mad not to take a look.
