Sony is anticipated to shift a further two million Playstation 3 consoles when Grand Theft Auto IV goes on sale. New gamers looking for their fix of virtual vice are likely to head for the PS3 over Xbox 360 according to a leading analyst.
“I think PS3 ‘wins’ this battle,” Michael Pachter, an analyst with Wedbush Morgan told Reuters. According to Pachter’s predictions, the release of the game will see two million more people buy a PS3 to play the game, with only one million getting an Xbox 360 to play it on.
Despite Sony seeing an up turn in console sales, it’s likely that more people overall will play the game on Microsoft’s platform as there are almost ten million Xbox 360s in the United States compared to only four million PS3s.
