Apple beefs up iMac line up

Apple’s new iMacsApple has cranked up the spec of its one-piece iMac, with the new models featuring the latest Intel processors and oodles of graphics power.

The top end 24in model can whizz away with 3GHz processor option and if you go for the Nvidia GeForce 8800 GS graphics chip then it’ll fly when it comes to 3D gaming.

There are performance tweaks across the range, with most models now equipped with 2GB of RAM as standard and all processors running on the faster 1,066MHz front side bus speed. You also get super-speedy wireless thanks to the 802.11n Airport Extreme WiFi.

Prices start at £799 for a 20in display, 2.4GHz processor and 1GB RAM. The mid-range 20in model with 2.66GHz chip and 2GB RAM will set you back £949 and if you must have everything then the 24in unit with 2.8GHz processor and 2GB of RAM can be yours for £1,149.
