Chalk this up on the iPhone rumour board: Italian newspaper La Repubblica is reporting that a 3G iPhone will shortly go on sale through Telecom Italia, but here’s the catch – it won’t be exclusive.
That means Apple won’t get a kickback in the form of a revenue sharing deal, but does mean it can sell the handset through any mobile network it likes, hoovering up demand for unlocked handsets, and simultaneously putting a dent in the number of hacked iPhones doing the rounds.
All very interesting, especially since La Repubblica is one of the more respected Italian newspapers, but until Apple makes it official we’re remaining sceptical. Check out all the latest iPhone news below.
