UPDATE: It seems Amazon’s hope-raising exercise has backfired: PlayTV now looks delayed until the end of 2008. Find the details here.
When HMV let slip a March release date for Sony’s PlayTV add-on our excitement meter went berserk, but as the date sailed by with no sign of the PlayStation 3 TV tuner, we began to lose hope of it ever appearing. Now Amazon’s rekindled our interest, with a new date, and some new details of what’s in store for PS3 owners.
According to the online megastore, PlayTV will waltz into living rooms on July 31st, bringing dual TV tuners that’re HD compatible, and ready to store Freeview programmes on the PS3’s hard drive.
Even better, those programmes, and even live TV, can be streamed to a PSP anywhere in the world via the internet.
What price for this level of televisual nirvana? £80, say the good folk at Amazon. Get your pre-orders in here.
Out July 31 | £80
