Parrot’s PARTY Black Edition speakers are the first ever to incorporate Nokia’s wireless NFC (near field communication) technology. This means that by simply touching the PARTY speakers with Nokia’s 6212 Classic – that’s the first NFC phone – you can live stream the music on your mobile. Unlike the usual Bluetooth system, it’s totally secure and there’s no messing about with menus or settings.
Parrot’s 6W stereo speakers are lightweight and portable, play for around 2.5 hours on a full charge and are clearly designed for use with portable NFC-equipped devices, but you could plug in any iPod or portable music player.
This is the first audio application of NFC, but with the ability to make swipe payments and swap data with a single tap, we’re probably going to see a lot more uses in the near future.
