GTA IV to be biggest gamePeople are always banging on about the games industry being as big as Hollywood, and the 29th April launch of Grand Theft Auto IV looks set to be the clearest ever indicator of that. Variety magazine is predicting that GTA IV will pull in a massive $400m (£200m) worth of sales in its first week, which would make it the biggest game launch in history – and possibly the biggest ever launch for a single entertainment product.

The report goes on to predict that 6 million copies of the game are expected to be sold, which is a million more than Halo 3 – the current record-holder when it comes to game launches. While Halo 3 was Xbox 360 only, GTA IV is hitting the 360 and PS3 simultaneously, which should account for more sales and more moolah.

Meanwhile the first UK print review for GTA IV has been scanned and posted online. The Official Xbox 360 Magazine awarded it a perfect 10/10 and described it as “utterly stunning in every respect.” Wibble.
