The MacBook Air and newest iMac have set a precedent, and the MacBook and MacBook Pro will be the next to follow it, say AppleInsider’s spies in Cupertino.
According to the rumour site, Apple’s putting the finishing touches to the next generation of Mac laptops, kitting the entire range out with aluminium finishes and stainless steel detailing.
The 13 inch MacBook will reportedly see the most radical update, with a slimmer profile and eco-friendly metal skin, helping Steve Jobs & Co to deliver their push towards a “greener Apple.”
Less certain, but highly likely, updates include oversized trackpads to accommodate new multi-touch technology, and a change of keyboard on the MacBook to match that of the new MacBook Air.
Precise launch dates for the new laptops are unknown, and it’s unlikely that will change until Apple gives its official word.
However, with Intel’s roadmap for next-gen Montevina chipsets pointing towards June, Apple could be on track to unveil the new laptops at its Worldwide Developers Conference. Perhaps alongside the next-generation iPhone. Stay tuned for more as soon as we hear it.
